Daniel Johnston - Yip/Jump Music (1983)

"I took my lucky break and I broke it in two
Put on my worried shoes
My ah ah worried shoes"
~ Worried Shoes

Jinxed says: As Elvis may be the king of rock, Daniel Johnston is the king of lo-fi; with albuns almost artesanally made and ballads that remind for sure Beatles and Bob Dylan, this anonimous made the head of great icons of music like Kurt Cobain and already was covered by renown bands like Jad Fair, Eels, Bright Eyes, Calvin Johnson, Beck, Death Cab For Cutie, Sparklehorse, The Flaming Lips, Tom Waits and Sufjan Stevens, made dozens of participations on collab songs like with Okkervial River. But you never had heard his name ? Right, me neither until months ago when Absurd Children gave me a documentary film about his life and made me pass nights and days with this lame recorded songs in my head.
Direct, organic and simple like a slapt in your face, always using his monotone life and all his domestic drama as inspiration this bi-polar composer had to fight against all his demons and platonic loves during his whole life and all his albuns are live proofs of this battleground. As Daniel is full of defects his mind is also the home of one of the most spectaculars and genious composers alive and in activity. Be sure this ins´t the last time his nome is gonna be mentioned in this blog, cause music for me has new god and his name is also known by the devil his name is Daniel Johnston. "They thought he was a monster, but his was the king!"

Bury me deeply in your heart
And there I say I never will decay
I never will decay
In your heart"
